INNOSPACE expects to try again for the test flight scrubbed the initial attempt due to unexpected issue of the HANBIT-TLV launch vehicle within the first quarter of 2023 at the Alcântara Launch Cente
SEJONG, South Korea (December 27, 2022) – INNOSPACE, a South Korean private spaceflight startup for small satellite launch vehicles, announced that the company expects to try again for the test flight scrubbed the initial attempt due to unexpected issue of the HANBIT-TLV launch vehicle within the first quarter of 2023 at the Alcântara Launch Center in Brazil.
INNOSPACE and Centro de Lançamento de Alcântara (“CLA”) have investigated the cause of the issue. After comprehensive checkups, the teams found that a synchronization error between the safety management system of the launch center and the ignition system of the HANBIT-TLV.
In the ignition sequence, the synchronization between the two systems did not work normally, and power supply to enable ignition was not made. As a result of the investigation of the safety management system conducted earlier, no defects in the system itself or mistakes in the operation process were found.
INNOSPACE and CLA teams currently completed full checkups from transmissions of electrical signals to a synchronization program after found an unexpected system error that occurred in the process of the first applying the sequence for the hybrid launch vehicle. Weather may be a concern on the rainy season in Brazil, INNOSPACE has been closely discussing with the Brazilian Air Force to set the new launch window, and they expect to try again for the test flight within the first quarter of 2023.
