INNOSPACE announced today that it has signed a launch site agreement with Southern Launch, an Australia space mission service provider.
● Secure additional launch base to widen customer mission options and operational flexibility
● From satellite launches to technology demonstrations and space-manufactured product return missions: A broad-response infrastructure
INNOSPACE announced today that it has signed a launch site agreement with Southern Launch, an Australia space mission service provider.
The signing ceremony was held at INNOSPACE’s Cheongju Campus (Seowon-gu, Cheongju) with Lloyd Damp, CEO of Southern Launch and Marshal Win, Global Sales Director of INNOSPACE in attendance.
Under this agreement, beginning in 2026 and for the following decade, INNOSPACE will gain access to both the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex, an orbital launch site, and the Koonibba Test Range, a suborbital launch and high-altitude test range operated by Southern Launch. This enables INNOSPACE to provide not only satellite launch services but also customer-driven technology demonstrations, high-altitude flight tests via suborbital launches, and space-manufactured product return missions, establishing a stable foundation for a wide range of mission profiles.
Located in southern Australia, the Southern Launch Whalers Way Orbital Launch site offers high safety margins and favorable trajectories to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Sun-Synchronous Orbit (SSO). The Koonibba Test Range is one of the largest commercial test ranges in the world. Minimal air and maritime traffic around both sites allow for efficient launch operations and regulatory coordination.
INNOSPACE now maintains two independent launch options in Australia, adding Southern Launch to its existing 2023 launch site agreement with Equatorial Launch Australia (ELA). In particular, Southern Launch is recognized for supporting both orbital and suborbital launches, with operational experience and infrastructure designed for return missions. This expanded infrastructure strengthens the company’s ability to select the most suitable launch site based on customer mission requirements, target orbit, and launch windows—thereby enhancing overall service flexibility.
“We are excited to welcome INNOSPACE to conduct missions from both the Koonibba Test Range and Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex. INNOSPACE are leaders in developing space launch vehicles and we proud to support them to develop and launch their technology from both of our sites,” Lloyd Damp, CEO of Southern Launch.
“Our partnership with Southern Launch represents a meaningful step in strengthening INNOSPACE’s global launch service capability. This expanded launch site network allows us to respond more flexibly to diverse mission needs—from satellite launches and technology demonstrations to space-manufactured product return missions—while further enhancing our commercialization competitiveness through tailored rapid-launch services and multi-launch operational frameworks,” Soojong Kim, Founder and CEO of INNOSPACE.
Following its 2022 launch site agreement with CCISE (The Space Systems Coordination and Implementation Commission) under the Brazilian Air Force and its 2023 launch site agreement with Equatorial Launch Australia, INNOSPACE now secures three launch bases across different continents with the addition of Southern Launch in Australia.
